About the Yellow-billed Turaco

The yellow-billed turaco (Tauraco macrorhynchus) is a species of bird in the family Musophagidae. It is found in Angola, Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

It has been proposed that they be recognised as two phylogenetic species, based on the biogeography, morphology and molecular phylogeny, and that the species be transferred to genus Musophaga, because they are not recovered with other Tauraco species. Wikipedia →

GBIF citizen-science records

It is estimated from how often the Yellow-billed Turaco is recorded against all the birds logged in Taï National Park (31 verified sightings from 2019 to 2026), calibrated against known sighting rates. Figures are rounded to the nearest 10% because citizen-science data supports honest approximations, not decimals, and months with records from fewer than five people show "—". How it works.
