Cat Tien National Park
🇻🇳 Vietnam
Cat Tien National Park is a protected lowland reserve in southern Vietnam, defined by sweeping tropical dry forest and dense bamboo groves. Unlike water-logged southern deltas, this terrain experiences distinct seasonal dry spells that shape a resilient canopy of deciduous trees and ancient timber stands.

We saw a total of 23 mammal species, including a reintroduced Pangolin and two Gibbon species.
The first woodpecker we saw was a pair of Greater Flamebacks.
I’ve a lot of fun by managed to spot and film many species during the monsoon, but only because I stayed for several consecutive weeks and stayed inside the park at the Cat Tien Headquarters.
A rescued black-shanked douc langur at the Dao Tien Endangered Primate Species Centre. In my 15 years (so far) of traveling to various far-flung corners of Vietnam, I somehow had never made it to Cát Tiên National Park, which is in Đồng Nai Province and neighbors HCMC.
