The buff-fronted foliage-gleaner (Dendroma rufa) is a species of bird in the Furnariinae subfamily of the ovenbird family Furnariidae. It is native to the Neotropical realm. The buff-fronted foliage-gleaner's taxonomy is unsettled. The International Ornithological Committee (IOC) and the Clements taxonomy follow the conclusions of a 2011 publication that moved the species from genus Philydor to Dendroma. BirdLife International's Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW) retains it in Philydor.
According to the IOC and Clements, the buff-fronted foliage-gleaner shares genus Dendroma with the chestnut-winged foliage-gleaner (D. erythroptera), and they and the chestnut-winged hookbill (Ancistrops strigilatus) are sister species. HBW retains the chestnut-winged foliage-gleaner in genus Philydor with the buff-fronted and several other foliage-gleaner species, and does not agree with the above sister species treatment.
The three taxonomic systems agree with assigning these seven subspecies to the buff-fronted foliage-gleaner, here listed using genus Dendroma. (HBW retains the neuter spellings of the specific epithets instead of the feminine ones required by Dendroma... Wikipedia →

Under 5% of wildlife watchers report a Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner sighting in São Paulo on a given day, based on 20 verified sightings from GBIF citizen-science data. It is the 281st most-seen of the 353 birds we can rate there. Over three days the chance rises to under 5%, if each day is a fresh chance.
Any time of year
In every month with enough records, under 5% of wildlife watchers report a Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner in São Paulo on a given day, so our monthly data shows no clear season.
Between 8 and 11 am
Across all the parks we cover, that three-hour window holds the most Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner sightings with a recorded time, and nearly all of them come between 6 am and 6 pm: it is a daytime animal.
Only São Paulo, in our data
São Paulo is the only city on Wallace's Line with enough records to rate Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner sightings: under 5% of wildlife watchers there report one on a given day.
GBIF citizen-science records
It is estimated from how often the Buff-fronted Foliage-gleaner is recorded against all the birds logged in São Paulo (20 verified sightings), calibrated against known sighting rates. Figures are rounded to the nearest 10% because citizen-science data supports honest approximations, not decimals, and months with records from fewer than five people show "—". How it works.
